The Second session of the Arab Parliament began Tuesday at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum with participation of members of the Arab Parliament and Sudan's National Legislature and the diplomatic corps.
The opening sitting was addressed by the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, Chairman of the National Legislature, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omer, and the Speaker of Arab Parliament, Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami.
Chairman of the National Legislature, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omer, has commended the Arab Parliament's initiative to hold its meetings in Khartoum, saying that such kind of meetings would boost the Arab unity .
He appreciated the support provided by Speaker of Arab Parliament to Sudan for the revocation of US sanctions and referred to the strong message he sent to the Chairman of US House of Representatives in which he demanded the lifting of the sanctions imposed on Sudan, in addition to Arab Parliament's statement demanding the lifting of sanctions and removal of Sudan name from the list of state sponsoring terrorism.
