The Arab league summit meeting kicked off here Wednesday with the Sudan delegation led by the President of the Republic Omar Bashir, along with a number of Arab leaders.
The opening sitting of the 28th ordinary Arab league summit which started in the Dead Sea Area in Jordan was addressed by the outgoing chair of the summit, President Mohamed Ould Abdul Aziz of Mauritania who touched on a number of challenges and questions that face the Arab Nation.
President Abdul Aziz has referred in his statement the signing of the National Dialogue document in the Sudan, in October last year, saying it stand out as huge success in the road to political accord and stability in the Sudan.
King Abdala II of Jordan, the current president of the Arab league's 28th session, delivered a statement in which he also referred to the various challenges facing the region including that of terrorism and fundamentalism, beside the Israeli continued occupation of the Arab territories and its endeavors to undermine all chances for achieving peace in the region.
The Monarch has made it clear that there would be no peace or stability in the region without a just solution for the Palestinian cause. He also referred to the Syrian, Libya, yamen and Iraqi issues as real challenges before the Arab world.
The opening session was also addressed by the secretary general of the Arab league, Ahmed Abul Ghaith as well as by the UN Secretary General Antonio Goterres beside the EU Higher commissioner for Foreign Policy and Security.
The commissioner of the African Union, Musa Faki addressed the opening session beside each of the Secretary General of the Islamic Cooperation and the chairman of the Speaker of the Arab Parliament.
