The Arab League has welcomed efforts by Bahrain to confront the threat of terrorism.
Spokesman for the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Mahmoud Afifi, praised the success of Bahraini authorities for arresting members of a cell accused of committing several terrorist acts and planned for other activities.
Afifi stressed "full solidarity" with the Kingdom of Bahrain in the face of such heinous acts and activities aimed at destabilizing security and stability of an Arab country, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). He also expressed "strong support" for efforts exerted by the Bahraini authorities to "eradicate the terrorist threat from Bahrain."
Bahraini authorities had announced the arrest of a terrorist cell consisting of 14 people who planned and began to carry out terrorist acts, including assassination attempts of important figures in the Kingdom and implemented terrorist attacks on a security convoy, KUNA reported.
