President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday reviewed with a number of the Jordanian national figures the latest developments in the Syrian arena and the attempts to undermine Syria's Arab and regional role. Headed by Former Jordanian Justice Minister Hussein Mujalli, members of the delegation expressed keenness on Syria's security and stability, rejecting all attempts of foreign interference in its internal affairs and of creating chaos in the country. They considered that targeting Syria is part of targeting all the Arabs, and the pan-Arab project, in addition to the resistance approach. They were also briefed by President al-Assad on the reality of what is taking place in Syria and the strides achieved by the state in carrying out the reforms to meet the needs of the Syrian citizens away from all sorts of pressure. Members of the delegation expressed confidence in Syria's ability to get out of the crisis stronger and more immune, adding that Syria will continue its pioneer national and pan-Arab role serving the Arabs' issues and interests. Talks during the meeting also touched upon the role of the parties, which adopt a pan-Arab approach, in developing themselves and restoring their role, in addition to enhancing the Arab citizens' confidence in Arabism which have become a pressing need more than ever. The delegation comprised of Editor-in-Chief of al-Majd Newspaper Fahd al-Rimawi, Former Information Minister Hani Khasawneh, Secretary of the Jordanian Bar Association and Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Bar Association Samih Khreis, Former Regional Secretary of al-Baath Party in Jordan Hassan Ajaj, Head of the Popular Committee for Supporting Syria Mansour Murad, Vice-Chairman of the Arab Cultural Forum Fayz Shakhatra, Editor-in-Chief of al-Wahda Newspaper Amer al-Tal, and Lawyer Jawad Yunus. The Jordanian Popular Committee for Supporting Syria visited Syria on August 8th to show solidarity and reject attempts of foreign intervention in Syria's internal affairs which target its sovereignty, independent decision and strategic position. Members of the Committee called for backing Syria in the face of the Israeli-Western plots that target its pan-Arab stances. In an interview with the Syrian TV, Murad said "Syria is facing the fiercest global conspiracy hatched by the US and the imperialistic countries backed by Israel with the aim of undermining its resistant and steadfast role to pave the way for liquidating the Palestinian cause." He added "The situation in Iraq is repeated in Syria as the agents of the US and the Israeli Mossad are killing the scientists and clergymen to foment sedition and to divide the Syrian people, in addition to making the conflict a sectarian one at the expense of our conflict with Israel as there is an intention to destabilize the region and to abolish the Arab identity." Murad stressed that the most important reason behind visiting Syria is to get acquainted with the true goals and dimensions of the US-Western-Zionist conspiracy against Syria and the package of reforms launched by the country. He added that Syria is a sample of democracy, freedom and justice, stressing that it will get out of the crisis stronger, yet the conspiracies hatched against it will not end. "Those who call for foreign or military interference in Syria are the tools of the American project which is based on protecting Israel and tampering with Syria's security and stability," Murad clarified. For his part, Khreis stressed that the US-Israeli conspiracy facing Syria was foiled due to the awareness and steadfastness of the Syrian people and leadership, calling for standing by Syria in facing the conspiracies. He wondered what type of democracy the West wants to achieve in Syria after killing more than 60 thousand Libyans by the NATO forces. He criticized al-Jazeera Channel which started to fabricate the facts and lost its role as a beacon for freedom and democracy in face of dictatorship and occupation. "Syria is targeted due to its key role in supporting the Arab resistance in Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq, and due to its adherence to the Arab principled stances and identity," Khreis said. On his part, Al-Tal said "I visited Syria last Ramadan, and contrary to what is being broadcast by some sedition channels, I didn't see any bloodshed, or any demonstrations, but I saw that the Syrian people are living a normal life and they denounce the fabrication of facts by those channels." He indicated that all the events prove the attempts of mass media to ignite sedition in Syria, on top of which al-Jazeera satellite channel, holding it responsible for the bloodshed in Syria as it provokes the people and gives them orders for killing. "Al-Jazeera paid money for the people of a Jordanian border city to say that they are Syrian refugees who escaped the acts of killing, yet a lot of the citizens rejected to do that," al-Tal said. He added that Syria has always supported the Arab resistance which has achieved landslide victories against Israel in 2006 when Israel attacked Lebanon and when it attacked Gaza Strip in 2008
