Multiple accidents caused further delays for motorists during Thursday morning rush hour.
Abu Dhabi and Dubai Police issued visibility warnings due to heavy fog early in the morning, urging motorists to exercise caution and avoid using the hazard lights unless in an emergency.
Commuters travelling south-bound on Emirates Road suffered extensive delays due to a major accident before Academic City, and another after the Maliha Road intersection towards Dubai,
An accident was also reported on Hessa Street near the Saudi German Hospital towards Sheikh Zayed Road.
Motorists travelling on Al Ain - Dubai Road were met with heavy congestion from the Emirates Road intersection, due to an accident.
In Sharjah, motorists were caught in long tailbacks from National Paints towards Dubai on Mohammed bin Zayed Road and north-bound on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Multiple accidents occurred on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road near Al Samaha towards Abu Dhabi, causing delays.
And several accidents were reported on Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road before Ghantoot Dubai-bound.
