The Residency Security Affairs General Department launched an inspection campaign targeting bogus domestic manpower offices to track down those who violated the residency and labor laws, resulting in the arrest of 21 individuals.
In a press statement, the Public Relations and Security Media Department in the Interior Ministry revealed that the arrest happened after the security management received information on the illegal activities of a bogus domestic manpower office.
The office allegedly made agreements between expatriates and Kuwaitis on providing domestic workers in exchange for an undisclosed amount. In order to appear that the transaction is legit, the office even issued receipts to their clients.
The securitymen raided the office after verifying the information and those who were arrested there admitted that they are not working with their sponsors, disclosing they work for others who give them daily wages. When the officers checked their records, they found out that the arrested individuals were involved in some cases and absconding reports have been filed against them.
Meanwhile, an Asian was arrested for changing his job from seller to driver even if he does not hold a driving license. Initial investigations revealed the Asian’s work permit was forged and he has no file. The Kuwaiti officer who entered the application of the Asian into the computer was arrested as it was revealed that the original file was closed.
The securitymen also discovered that another Kuwaiti officer was behind the forgery of the Asian’s work permit. This officer was summoned for questioning, during which he admitted to engaging in the act in exchange for money and he destroyed the original file to protect himself. A case was registered and the two Kuwaitis and the Asian were referred to the concerned security unit for further interrogation and other legal measures.
