Minister of Environmental Affairs Dr Laila Iskander asserted the necessity of boosting the role of women and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the protection of environment and integrating the concept of sustainable development in all fields of the society.
The minister's remarks were made at the inaugural session of a workshop on the role of women in environment protection. The workshop is organized by members of the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in cooperation with the central administration of training unit at the Ministry of Environmental Affairs.
She also asserted the need for beefing up the role of women and NGOs in achieving sustainable development, the solid waste management, protection of water resources, women issues as well as the challenges posed by climate change.
