Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Waly said that the value of donations offered for the non-governmental organizations during the first half of the current year reached EGP 295 million.
The donations were given to 179 NGOs in 17 governorates to implement social and development projects, she underlined.
In press statements on Wednesday, the minister said that development, cultural, social and economic ventures will be implemented in Upper Egyptian governorates to improve the economic and social conditions there.
The donations were used in implementing programs pertaining to empowering women especially the rural areas, offering job opportunities for youth, providing energy, developing youth's skills, offering medical services and helping women in implementing small and medium enterprises, Waly added.
