Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa described the 17th Asian Games, officially known as the XVII Asiad, which will kick off tomorrow in Incheon city, South Korea, as a serious test for Bahraini athletes to build on previous achievements.
He said the tournament will enable Bahraini athletes to boost their capabilities and gain more technical experiences in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He added that Bahrain's participation in the major Asian sporting event is an opportunity to preserve the wonderful accomplishments and build on them. He pointed out that the Bahraini delegation comprises an elite of players who were well-prepared to mount the podiums and show development of Bahraini sport.
Shaikh Nasser also voiced confidence in the ability of Bahrain national teams to project the civilisational image of Bahrain in this major Asian gathering. He also wished South Korea every success in organising the tournament, lauding the efforts of the Asian Olympic Council under the presidency of Shaikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah.
