No alternative for winning against South Korea, Head coach of Kuwait national football team Nabil Maaloul said Monday.
At his own pre-match press conference before Tuesday's encounter within Group A's 16th AFC Cup, Maaloul stressed that the Blue Squad would not resort to defensive play.
"We are seeking to gain the three points," he underlined, pointing out that in the last few days, he worked to mentally prepare the players and equip them with needed skills to avoid an early exit from the tournament's first round.
Tunisian-born Maaloul has been with Kuwait since December 7.
Meanwhile, player Saleh AL-Sheikh told KUNA that the Kuwaiti team was not "intimidated" by its South Korean rival and that Kuwait will seek victory through offensive play.
South Korea is ranked 69th, third-highest among the AFC member states behind Iran (51st) and Japan (54th). Kuwait is at 125th, 16th in the AFC and second-lowest among the Asian Cup participants, ahead only of the 150th-ranked North Korea.
The match is the second for the Blue jerseys after their loss against host Australia in the opener match 4-1, while the South Korean team beat Oman 1-0.
