Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi today praised the Saudi-led Arab Coalition for defending Yemen's security, stability and constitutional legitimacy.
He expressed special thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and leaders of the coalition members "for taking a unified stance to defend the victims of injustice and confront the Persian Safavid expansion which was about to swallow Yemen and the whole region."
Hadi was speaking during a meeting with presidential advisers, members of the cabinet and members of the House of Representatives.
"We have always been heralds of peace and national coalescence based on our responsibility towards the people of Yemen who, after one whole year, continue to suffer from the acts of the rebel militia which, in their brutal and unjust war, have wreaked destruction in the country and murdered women, children and unarmed people."
He said the pillars of peace in Yemen with which the rebels have to comply are the outcome of the National Dialogue Conference, UN resolutions and the 2011 Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) initiative. "Based on this, we are extending an olive branch to establish peace and security for generations to come."
"We seek to establish peace, put an end to the rebels' acts and restore stability to all Yemeni governorates and cities."
"The rebel militia have not respected agreements (with the legitimate government) and all concessions we have made. Instead, continued to destroy cities, arrest politicians, displace peaceful people and destroy public and private properties to implement foreign agendas that are against peace and stability in Yemen. That is why the people of Yemen had to take to arms to defend their honour and dignity and counter this criminal gang which disrupted the social fabric with their acts that are against our traditions and Arab identity," Hadi added.
