The legitimate government in Yemen will not allow Houthis to expand an inch, said Saudi-led coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Ahmed Al-Assiri.
In statements to the media, Al-Assiri said the Yemeni government forces will battle Houthi militias in Naham or anywhere else inside Yemen.
“The Houthis are feeling the heat after failing to bow to the international will to achieve peace in Yemen during talks in Kuwait.”
He said: “The coalition’s top priority is to give more space for peace. The momentum of the military operations was slowed to allow a peace agreement between the legitimate government and the Houthis with a view to saving lives. Now that the talks are over, we will step up the military operations.”
He added: “They have no option but to comply with the international legitimacy and the UNSC Resolution 2216 and the GCC initiative,” he said, pointing out that the coalition is coordinating with the UN to take important steps to protect Yemeni civilians.
