At least 94 militants affiliated with Daesh terrorist group were killed during ongoing military operations in eastern Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported on Saturday.
At least four key leaders of the group were among those killed, the provincial government said in a statement.
The statement further added that the operations were conducted in the vicinity of Achin district, where a major airstrike was launched by the US forces on Thursday.
An important hideout of the terror group and large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives were destroyed during the operations, a source told Khaama Press.
Daesh leaders killed during the operations have been identified as Hamza Abu Bakar, Mohammad Ibrani, Hamid Kunari, and Walkin the brother of Hafiz Saeed are among those killed, he added.
Meanwhile, the source noted that local residents and security forces have not suffered any casualties in the operations that have been conducted since Thursday.
