Some eight people were killed and 28 others wounded after a long-distance bus crashed with a truck along a highway in Afghan eastern province of Ghazni on Thursday, the third deadly accident within a month, police said.
"The ill-fated bus crushed with a truck head-on-head in Abband district of Ghazni in the morning. The incident caused eight people aboard the bus killed and 28 others injured," provincial traffic police official Mohammadullah Ahmadi told Xinhua.
The bus was travelling from Afghan capital of Kabul to western Nimroz province.
The killed and injured were shifted to hospitals in provincial capital Ghazni city, 125 km south of Kabul.
An investigation was launched into the incident and the fate of the truck driver and his helper remained unknown, the source added.
Afghan officials blame reckless driving as the main cause of road accidents in the country.
On Wednesday, four passengers were killed and 22 others injured in similar accident in Ghazni while 43 passengers were killed and several others wounded after a bus collided with a truck in northern Samangan province earlier this month.
