Up to five militants were killed Saturday in a drone strike carried out by the NATO-led coalition forces in eastern Afghan province of Kunar, the provincial governor said. "Unmanned plane with the coalition forces launched an attack against a militants' hideout in Jeriin area of Ghazi Abad district at around 8 a.m. local time Saturday, killing five militants," Governor Seyyd Fazlullah Wahidi told Xinhua. Meantime, local residents said that two local Taliban leaders named Dust Mohammad and Akhtar Mohammad were among the dead in the province 180 km east of Kabul. On the other hand, the Taliban militant group fighting the Afghan and some 100,000 NATO-led forces confirmed the deaths. A Taliban purported spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, told local media via cell phone from undisclosed location that two Taliban members were killed and four wounded in the attack.
