Units of police backed by the army have killed nearly two dozen Taliban militants during a series of operations across the conflict-ridden Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here Sunday.
"A total of 23 Taliban rebels have been killed and 23 others injured during cleanup operations conducted in Baghlan, Kunduz, Saripul, Kandahar, Oruzgan, Herat and Helmand provinces over the past 24 hours," the statement said.
Ten more insurgents have been arrested, the statement asserted.
The statement didn't say if there were casualties on security personnel.
Taliban militants fighting the government haven't made comment.
