At least 14 foreigners from Nepal were killed in a suicide attack in the capital Kabul earlier today, Khaama Press quoted security officials as saying Monday.
The officials further added that the incident took place in the 9th police district of the city, leaving at least five others injured, including four Afghans.
Sediq Sediqi, the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, earlier said at least 14 people were killed and eight others were wounded in the attack.
The incident took place around 6:00 am after a suicide bomber targeted a mini bus in Benayi area as it was carrying the Nepalese nationals who were apparently security guards.
The Taliban group spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the incident and said more than 20 foreigners were killed or wounded in the attack.
The Taliban group has intensified attacks across the country including Kabul after the group announced its spring offensive earlier in April and vowed to carry out more attacks as the group’s insurgency enters to its 15th year since they were toppled in a US-led invasion.
