The death toll of the Israeli air and ground attacks on Gaza Strip on Monday topped 117, mainly children, women and elderly people, while the Israeli army used brutal force to quell protests staged in the West Bank in solidarity with Gaza.
The figure includes 23 civilians who were killed this evening in Shuja'iyyah district of Gaza, the southern Khan Yunis town and other parts of the Strip, medical sources said.
The Israeli warships, off Al-Sudaniya coast, bombarded Al-Shate' refugee camp as the warplanes continued attacking the camp.
The attacks killed a civilian, identified as Hassan Bakr, 60, and wounded some six dozen others, mostly women and children this midnight.
Wa'el Harb, 32, succumbed tonight to an injury he sustained several hours ago in Gaza City.
The incessant air attacks razed to the ground several homes across the Strip inflecting scores of casualties, the sources added.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian youth was shot dead by the Israeli troops in north Jerusalem.
Mahmoud Al-Shawamreh, 21, was killed during a demonstration staged by the Palestinians at Al-Ram entrance of the old city in protest against the Israeli military onslaught on Gaza Strip, a Palestinian medic told KUNA.
An Israeli military patrol approached the protesters and then a soldier shot the young man three times.
The Israeli troops kidnapped Al-Shawamreh briefly before handing him over to the Palestinian medical authorities; he was rushed him to a hospital in Ramallah where he breathed his last.
Over 40 Palestinians sustained bullet injuries in the ongoing protests in Beit Al Jewish settlement, Al-Khalil (Hebron) and Beit Amer town.
