The Israeli army artillery stationed on the borders between northern Gaza Strip and Israel fired on Thursday afternoon four tank shells on a lookout post that belongs to Hamas militants in northern Gaza Strip.
Gazan Hamas security officials said in a short text message sent to reporters that no injuries were reported, however the military post was severely damaged.
The Israeli tank shelling was in retaliation to the previous night's firing of a Grad rocket from northern Gaza into southern Israel, according to Israeli media reports, with no injuries or damage reported.
However, an Israeli army spokesman informed Israeli media that the Israeli army's response to the attack against southern Israel destroyed two targets belonging to Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Israel Radio reported that unidentified militants fired a rocket from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip into Israel overnight, which landed in the vicinity of the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, with no reported damage or injuries.
