Palestinian resistance groups continued to fire missiles on Israeli cities and targets Tuesday, and the Israeli Army admitted to "damage" to several homes in Ashdod in a missile attack this morning.
Hamas' Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack saying it had fired eight missiles on the Israeli city.
Quoted by Radio Israel, the Israeli Army reported that sirens had blared this morning in Eshkol, Sha'ar Hanegev, and Sdreot. An army spokesman said, "Palestinians are still firing missiles from Gaza despite the announcement of the Egypt-brokered halt of hostilities early this morning." He said seven missiles were fired on the parameters of the Hof Ashkelon and Eshkol Regional Councils, adding there were no reports of damages or injuries.
However, five Israelis had been injured at dawn today when missiles hit Elat in southern Israel. Radio Israel said two missiles hit the heart of the city, one striking directly in front of a key hotel, and added there were reports of damages following the attack.
The radio said a third missile fell on an open lot near the city.
Islamic Jihad's Quds Brigades is also saying its fighters are still firing missiles on southern Israel. A brief statement said six missiles had been fired today at noon on the Negev region.
Another statement by the group said it had sent 400,000 sms messages to Israeli mobile phone numbers, "warning them of what is in store for their soldiers in Gaza Strip." The message was sent in Hebrew, saying; "your leadership is leading you to destruction. What awaits you in Gaza is one of two things; capture or death."
