Eight Israelis were injured as result of barrage of Palestinian rockets fired from Gaza Strip at Israeli settlement towns in the south on Monday, the Israeli army said.
An army spokesman said in a statement that "a wide area of western Negev was targeted with barrage of rockets from Gaza Strip," which included 10 rockets and shells.
The spokesman said one Israeli was slightly injured in Ashdod city, while seven others were injured due their rush into bunkers when asked by the military.
The spokesman was quoted by Israeli radio as saying the rockets also targeted a number of areas, like Ofakim, Ashkelon, Netivot, in addition to other towns.
Sirens were also heard in Jerusalem city, but based on the Israeli spokesman those sirens were launched by mistake.
According to Israeli radio, rockets sparked fires in Netivot settlement, including in a plant in Sderot.
