Israel renewed on Sunday its air strikes and artillery shelling on the Gaza Strip, killing at least five Palestinians, although it declared a unilateral ceasefire for 24 hours, medics and witnesses said.
Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza told reporters that two Palestinians were killed and two wounded at a noon airstrike on central Gaza Strip refugee camp of Nuseirat.
He said that three others were killed in two air strikes and one artillery shelling on the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, including a young man was driving a motorbike east of the town, five others were injured.
In Gaza city, Israeli war jets struck with missiles the 15th floor of a building in central Gaza city. The whole floor belongs to Hamas TV station al-Aqsa TV, according to witnesses.
The renewal of airstrikes and artillery shelling on the Gaza Strip came after Hamas and Israel agreed on Saturday on a UN- proposed humanitarian ceasefire for 12 hours.
However, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said earlier that Hamas and the Palestinian factions refused to extend the ceasefire for an extra four hours, then he said Hamas refused to extend the ceasefire for another 24 hours.
The Israeli government decided to extend the ceasefire after the 12-hour truce for another four hours, and when Hamas rejected it, it said that it extended the ceasefire for anther 24 hours, but Hamas rejected it.
