FAISAL HANJRA, Assistant Secretary General, The Muslim Council of Britain The Platform is a blog that brings together talented young people and high profile writers to voice views on topical issues and current events. The blog, led by the MCB Youth Affairs Committee, aims to take young Muslims away from being the object of debate, to being the leaders of debate. The blog, although youth-led, will be broad in focus, facilitating a space or platform for commentary and debate from a broad range of perspectives. This will help to facilitate and promote engagement, both between communities and the wider world and between generations. It will help facilitate and generate thought-provoking views and opinions on the pertinent issues of the day, through an approach that is dynamic and interactive. Following a successful pilot run in 2010, The Platform is back in 2011, bigger and even better than before. Designed to create a space for expression and to encourage a dynamic thinking for progress, The Platform is a site that unites talented Britons of diverse ages and backgrounds in the common cause of bettering Britain. The Platform is now LIVE and can be viewed at www.the-platform.org.uk. Be sure to visit and join the debate! The celebration of the launch of The Platform will take place at Conway Hall (nearest station: Holborn), 25 Red Lion Square, WC1R 4RL. Refreshments will be provided, and entry is free and open to all. Pre-registration is required and can be done by emailing admin@mcbyouth.org.uk with your contact details and "Attending" in the subject line.
