The U.S. Navy Blue Angels flying team canceled an air show this week in Annapolis, Md., because of a mistake during a weekend performance, a spokesman said. The team of Navy flyers may still do a flyover during the Naval Academy graduation Friday, The Baltimore Sun reported Monday. A spokesman described the hiatus, which includes the scrubbing of a practice session Tuesday over the Severn River in the Annapolis area, as a "safety stand-down." Petty Officer Russell Tafuri said some planes flew too low during a "barrel roll" split Sunday at the Lynchburg Regional Air Show in Virginia. During the maneuver, the planes go through a 360-degree roll flying in formation and then split apart. "The Naval Academy fully appreciates the Blue Angels concern for safety as they prepare to resume the remainder of their schedule," the academy said in a statement. "We look forward to their return for future performances."
