On the second day of his visit to Beirut, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglo met spiritual, political, and party leaders in Lebanon. Davutoglo received Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt, at Phoenicia Intercontinental Hotel, accompanied by his party’s deputy for Foreign Affairs Doreid Yaghi, where they discussed the situation in the region. The Turkish Minister then held a meeting with the head of the Future Movement parliamentary bloc and former Lebanese PM Fuad Siniora, in the presence of former Minister Tarik Mitri, Nader Hariri, office manager of former PM Saad Hariri, Judge Mohamed Shath, and Dr. Radwan Sayed. The meeting included a luncheon in the Turkish official’s honor during which the recent regional and international updates were discussed. Following the lunch meeting with Siniora, Davutoglo met the Lebanese Mufti, Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani, in Dar el-Fatwa, in addition to meeting deputy head of the Supreme Shiite Islamic Council, Sheikh Abdul Amir al-Qiblan, and Orthodox Archbishop in Beirut Elias Audi. Davutoglo also visited Kataeb Party leader and former Lebanese president Amine Gemayel at his home at 8 pm, where he was invited to a dinner held in his honor attended by senior Kataeb officials.
