Sudan’s President Omer Al-Bashir has received two messages from Chairman of the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel for Sudan, Thabo Mbeki, and the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Haile-Mariam, inviting him for a summit between him and the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, on September 23. The messages were conveyed to President Al-Bashir Tuesday evening by the visiting Ethiopian envoy, Nessan Johannes. In a statement to the press carried by SUNA, the Ethiopian envoy said that the messages dealt with invitation to President Al-Bashir to participate in a summit with South Sudan President, Salva Kiir, on September 23 in Addis Ababa. He said that the message sent by the Ethiopian Prime Minister affirmed his commitment to boost peace between Sudan and South Sudan. The Ethiopian envoy said that President Al-Bashir has accepted the invitation and agreed to participate in the summit between him and President Salva Kiir on September 23.
