With two Arab awards already granted, the Syrian "Mariam" film, for the director Bassel al-Khatib, earned another three Arab awards at the 8th edition of Muscat International Film Festival, which wrapped up last Friday. The movie, which was co-written by Bassel al-Khatib and Talid al-Khatib, won the Bronze Dagger for Best Film award. Actress Sabah al-Jazaeri was granted Best Actress award, while the third award went to Farhad Mahmoudi for Best Cinematography. Produced by the General Establishment of Cinema, "Mariam" had earlier earned the Grand Award of Dakhla International Film Festival in Morocco and the grand Award of Oran Arab Film Festival held in Algeria.
