Egyptian actor Salah al-Sadani Cairo - Shima Mekawi Egyptian superstar Salah al-Sadani expressed his pleasure over the notable success of his recent television series, The Minor Girls, which was shown during Ramadan. "It was such a wonderful and important drama" Salah said to Arab Today, praising the writer of the series for looking into the taboo of underage marriage in Egypt. "The Muslim Brotherhood worked to support this idea during their rule and the issue was looked into from all sides in the drama, including that of the Islamists," the actor added. Salah affirmed the seriousness of the problem in the country and the need to highlight it to a wider audience. He urged its humanitarian need, signalling health and social problems that result from such a practice. Discussing his character in more depth, Salah felt "disgusted" playing the role of an elder man marrying a minor, but felt its importance in helping to eliminate the issue by bringing it on the bigger screen. Regarding recent developments in Egypt, the renowned star disclosed his resentment towards the increasing violence in the country and praised the performance of both the military and security forces "working to confront attempts to destabilise the country."
