Lebanon’s Attorney General Klaud Karam decided to release Syrian singer Assala Nasry as she confirmed that unknown people put the drugs controlled by security forces in her handbag into her bag. After her release the Syrian singer turned to Beirut International Airport to travel to Egypt with her husband. However, Journalists have been prevented from contacting with her. The Syrian singer was arrested by the Lebanese security forces who inspected her bag and found amounts of drugs.
During the investigations, the high-profile singer screamed and blamed the Syrian regime of President Bashar Al Assad for putting the drugs in her bags in retaliation against her position against them and her support for the Syrian opposition. The news of the arrest of Syrian singer Assala Nasri at Beirut airport for allegedly carrying drugs went viral on social media on Sunday night.
Lebanese newspaper an-Nahar quoted a security source confirming the arrest of Assala at the Rafic Hariri International Airport as she headed to Cairo, because she had cocaine in her possession. They had been found in her makeup bag, according to the report.
According to the website of Lebanon’s LBC TV channel, Assala denied in an initial statement that these drugs belong to her and said “she didn’t know who had put them in her bag.” She left Beirut to Cairo after signing a pledge to undergo a drug analysis every time she visits Lebanon. After leaving Beirut Airport, Assala posted a photo from the plane on her Instagram account with the caption “Thanks God.”
A number of Arab singers and artists expressed their support for the Syrian singer, as Tunisian singer Latifa said, on her Twitter account, that she expresses her love and support for Assala during her problem. She stressed her confidence that she could overcome the current problem as soon as possible.
Also Egyptian high-profile singer Angham stressed her support for Assala, describing her as her friend. She said that she expresses solidarity with her during her problem.
