Actress Lobna Abdel Aziz denies retirement

Egyptian high-profile actress Lobna Abdel Aziz expressed her pleasure for the honor she received during the National Film Festival for her cinematic career since its beginning, saying that she appreciates these honors from her country. She said that it is the second time for her to receive honor from Egypt, saying that the first time was from former President Jamal Abdel Nasser in 1960s.
She denied what was published over her intention to write her memories, saying that she lived a very simple life, and the people know her works well. She also expressed her refusal to produce a film or a drama show to discuss her life.
She revealed that she has not given the priority to increasing of her participations in the Egyptian cinema while to present good works. She added that she refused a large number of offers, as she found the role unsuitable for heNational Film Festival r, stressing her careful approach to choose her role.
She expressed, during an interview with “Al Maghrib Today”, her satisfaction of her career, saying that she is proud of her cinema works. She added that her Egyptian fans still remember her works which presented clear messages to them.
She added, “I have received a number of offers to participate in the Egyptian drama, while I still study these offers. I am not frustrated if I lost any opportunity, as the artistic life strongly depends on the destiny.”
She stressed that the artist’s success is related not only the beauty but also the love of people and the good works. I feel the people’s love and this is making me happy. I am lucky as I began my career with the historic generation of the Egyptian cinema. I had cordial relations with all of my colleagues and still keep my friendship with a lot of them.” She stressed that she does not care of politics, while she focuses on her arts and family.
Regarding her decision to keep away from her career, she said that she was not planning to take this step, while her husband asked her to accompany him when he travelled to America. She added that she was intending to travel with him to arrange their life and return to her career, while she had been extremely preoccupied in educating her children.
She denied retirement, while she is ready to participate in any works, saying that she is keen to choose her roles carefully not to undermine her historic career. She added that she is happy for the radio program she presents in the European Program since 1950s and is keen to resume writing her weekly article in Al-Ahram weekly.
