The Zayed Giving Initiative has announced the success of the first operational phase of the Zayed Heart Humanitarian Mobile Hospital by conducting 85 heart surgeries under the supervision of the UAE, French and Sudanese voluntary medical team.
The move is the first of its kind for the hospital in Sudan within the voluntary and humanitarian framework.
Emirati Heart Surgeon Dr. Adel Al Shamri, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative said the mobile hospital is equipped with advanced medical devices for open heart surgeries and catheterisation. He added that it also provides curative, surgical, preventive and training services.
Dr. Al Shamri said the heart surgeries are conducted free of charge to the needy patients, noting that over 7, 000 heart surgeries have been so far conducted in the UAE, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina , Jordan, Syria, Yemen, Kenya, Pakistan, Indonesia, Tanzania, Lebanon, Somalia, India and Sudan.
