The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) will be launching the National Vaccination Campaign against Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) for children and youth less than 20 years of age from 09-27 October 2011. This immunity campaign is being developed by the SCH to meet the millennium development goal target of the three-fourths reduction in the MMR by the year 2015. The MMR vaccines are very safe and effective with no serious side effects. Immediate, anaphylactic reactions to MMR or its component vaccines are extremely rare, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). MMR diseases don''t require parental consent for vaccines, SCH said in a statement today, urging all parents (citizens & residents) to escort their children (either fully vaccinated or not) to nearest vaccination center.
