With the onset of the month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Health is has launched a blood donation drive targeting the worshippers congregating at mosques. Assistant Undersecretary of MOH and Chairman of the Supreme National Blood Transfusion Committee Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri announced that the Blood Transfusion '&' Research Center in Sharjah will organize blood transfusion drives on a daily basis in front of mosques during the Holy month of Ramadan. “We will be sending our mobile unit to all mosques in the city and market places as part of our Ramadan campaign,” said Amin Hussain Al Amiri. “Donating blood is a healthy trend in society that helps medical facilities provide prompt assistance to patients,” he said. Continuous donations and campaigns have helped the blood bank maintain a reasonable quantity of available blood to meet demand. The number of young donors aged between 18 to 25 years has steadily been increasing. The drive is going to be a very successful one due to its being organized in the holy month; it will also find warm welcome from those who frequent mosques during the Ramadan.
