The Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee at the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) held its 21st meeting under the chairmanship of Maria Antoine Elias Khoury and membership of Dr. Hameed Ahmed Husain and Dr. Mona Mohamed Hejres.
The meeting reviewed the complaints and assistance requests submitted to the NIHR since the committee's last meeting.
Figures revealed that the NIHR had received 15 complaints and 19 assistance and legal consultation requests, mainly related to education, housing and health, between February 27 and March 26.
The committee said that it had received 27 requests since January this year, six of which were filed as the expected results had been achieved and four others were also filed for lack of rights infringement, adding that it is still following up on the remaining complaints.
The panel pointed out that it had continued its training programmes and plans aimed at consolidating the public's culture on the mechanisms to file complaints in case their rights are infringed.
Complaints or requests of legal assistance or consultation can filed through reporting to the NIHR's headquarters in Seef District.
They can also be filed through visiting the NIHR's website, www.nihr.org.bh, calling 17111666 or via smart phone application, NIHR Bahrain.
