Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development has stressed the role of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in developing the health sector in the UAE and Emirate of Abu Dhabi, given its links with the health and community welfare.
He added that all the healthcare services get support from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Sheikh Nahyan noted that the UAE enjoys world-class health system that meets the needs of community, thanks the interest of wise leadership in the healthcare system.
Sheikh Nahyan made the remarks while addressing the two-day long Medicine Update Conference on Men's Health, organised by Medeor Specialist Hospital at Jumeirah, Etihad Union Towers, in Abu Dhabi.
"I am confident that I speak for men everywhere. All of us men must be grateful for the vision of VPS Healthcare and their professional leadership in organising this conference. The Scientific and Organising Committees have brought together extraordinarily impressive experts from thirteen countries beyond the UAE," he said.
He noted that men have finally admitted that they were not invincible. "Before that admission, they probably accepted the ancient male myth that nothing can hurt them. They grew up believing that manly behaviour is characterised by the denial of pain, the flaunting of caution, an indifference to dangerous habits, a disdain for physical examinations and medication, a refusal to acknowledge any health problem, and a belief that, even if they have to die one day in the distant future, they will be the last to die."
Sheikh Nahyan acknowledged the concern of participants and organisers about men's disorders and diseases.
For his part, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Conference President, Managing Director, VPS Healthcare, said the group takes interest in organising such conferences which further enrich doctors, and medical and technical cadres' knowledge about the latest medical developments in various disciplines.
