Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali said that drug addiction early detection committee has examined 1,123 school bus drivers in five governorates since the start of the second semester.
Some 96 drivers were tested positive to drug addiction, making 8.5% of the total sample that underwent the examination, Wali added.
Giza governorate has the largest number of drivers addicted to drugs by 16.5%. It is followed by Alexandria with 12%.
In the capital, 7.2% of the drivers were tested positive to opium poppy, Tramadol and heroin.
