Some hundreds of people were infected Monday by the dengue fever which has gripped Pakistan’s eastern Lahore city . The infected patients including Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son and a lawmaker Sheikh Rohail Asghar, have been admitted to several city hospitals. According to Provincial Health Ministry, the total number of dengue fever cases has jumped to 3,335 in the Lahore city, capital of eastern Punjab province. About, 1,360 patients have recovered and were discharged from different hospitals. The number had suddenly increased that almost all public hospitals are overcrowded, causing shortage of platelet kits, which are essential for dengue patients. A similar outbreak hit the city last year in October and September, during the monsoon season.
