The Dubai Health Authority’s, DHA, Pharmaceutical Services Department has announced the launch of its DHA Drug Formulary mobile application for the year 2017.
The application includes all information related to medicines available at DHA’s medical facilities, with the aim of providing doctors and pharmacists with a medication guide to check availability of medicines, prescription details, and medication safety.
Dr. Ali Al Sayed, Director of the Pharmaceutical Services Department at DHA said that the new application provides information about each medication’s scientific name, medical use, required dosage for children and adults, as well as each medication’s electronic code, availability and its prescribing restrictions. He said the app will allow them to take better medical decisions according to each case ensuring the patients safety.
Al Sayed said the application is based on the DHA Formulary for the year 2017 medication book manual, which was launched in August.
He said the app version of the formulary allows DHA staff to better access the information on their smart phone or tablet wherever they are. He also added that the application can also be accessed on a desktop computer and has a search feature that can allow them to easily find the information they are looking for.
Al Sayed said the new app is available via Google Play and Apple Store, and will be regularly updated to include the latest DHA approved list of medications.
He said that DHA doctors and nurses could contact the pharmaceutical department to register themselves on the app and acquire the necessary password to access the information.
He concluded by saying that the app is considered a great accomplishment that can better guide doctors to prescribe correct medication for their patients, ensuring that they get the best care based on the best international standards.
