The Cabinet, under Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, agreed on Thursday to offer the treatment of Gaucher’s disease.
The move came on back of reports that several children were now suffering from this rare disease.
EGP 45.1 million was allocated to the Health Ministry in order to help it forge a deal with a specialized company to provide access to medical treatment.
Gaucher's disease or Gaucher disease (GD) is a genetic disease in which fatty substances (sphingolipids) accumulate in cells and certain organs. The disorder is characterized by bruising, fatigue, anemia, low blood platelets, and enlargement of the liver and spleen.
