Here at UAEats we love olives, and even that’s an understatement for how we feel about the briny little munchies But which UAE restaurant serves the best? We came across probably the best black olive in Dubai on Monday night at a tasting of Elia’s new autumn menu, and who better to provide a brilliant olive than the Greeks? (Elia is at the Majestic Hotel, Mankhool Road, Bur Dubai, and is well worth a look beyond the olives, which are served along side a fava bean puree and bread to start the meal. The olives and other Greek staples are available for bulk take-away.) Our prize for the best green olive goes to a Chinese restaurant: Hakkasan (at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, and Emirates Towers in Dubai), for their heavenly, gigantic, buttery orbs, which are served with drinks at the bar. They are of the bright green Castelvetrano variety grown in Sicily – rarely seen here.
