Three New Year’s messages from the Ruler of Dubai were re-tweeted more than 6,000 times by last Monday afternoon. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, also Vice President of the UAE, took to Twitter at 9pm on December 31. He said he hoped this year would be “full of accomplishments, blessings and happiness to you and your loved ones”. He continued in two subsequent tweets. “For 41 years, we’ve gone by a golden rule: each year should be better than the previous one and each achievement stronger than its predecessor,” he wrote. “Although 2012 was a successful year full of significant achievements in the UAE, with God’s help 2013 will be even better and greater.” The messages were sent in Arabic and English and were re-tweeted 6,177 times by 1pm yesterday. The Arabic tweets were re-tweeted 4,529 times and the English tweets repeated 1,648 times.
