The Shaikh Ibrahim Centre for Culture and Research has today celebrated its tenth anniversary. Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women patronized a ceremony hosted on this occasion at Buzabun Building in Muharraq. A short film documenting the march of the centre and its activities was shown. A group of Arab singers also contributed to the ceremony. HRH Princess Sabeeka described the centre as a vital milestone, hailing its prolific intellectual product which promotes public taste, disseminates knowledge and fosters culture, particularly among youngsters. She paid tribute to Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa and centre board of trustees' chairperson for her efforts and role in protecting genuine heritage and keenness to promote cultural expertise towards building bridges between civilizations. Bahrain's First Lady stressed the importance of promoting cultural enlightenment through such cultural and research think tanks. The Shaikh Ibrahim Centre for Culture and Research was established in January 2002, in Muharraq. It has since development to become a full-fledged cultural hub and destination for researchers, hosting to date 335 speakers specialized in politics, history, art and poetry among other domains, in addition to weekly lectures.
