General Egyptian Book Organisation (GEBO) will host Nelly Hanna, history professor at the American University in Cairo (AUC), on Tuesday, 8 May in an open discussion at the GEBO on the Nile Corniche. The discussion will be run by the renowned Egyptian translator, Bashir Assibai, who has translated more than 70 books. Nelly Hanna is a professor and chair of the department of Arabic and Islamic Civilisation at AUC. Hanna earned her docteur d’etat at the University of Aix en Provence, France. She has been teaching at AUC since 1991. She has also been professor/guest lecturer at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (May-June 1998), at Harvard University (January-June 2001) and at Waseda University, Tokyo (December 2008-January 2009).
