Governor of the Bank of Algeria Mohamed Laksaci was elected Thursday new President of the Association of African Central Banks (AACB). Laksaci was elected by the Assembly of Governors of AACB, whose works finished yesterday in Algiers, taking over from Malawi’s Governor of central Bank Charles Chuka. The Assembly also elected the Governor of central Bank of Mauritius Rundheersing Bheenick as vice-president. It also elected the members of AACB bureau, which will be consist of Governors of the central Banks of Sudan, Congo and representatives of under-regional committees of Central, Southern, Western and Eastern Africa. Thirty-one African Central Banks, members of AACB, in addition to international and African institutions, participated to the 36th ordinary meeting of AACB Assembly of Governors in Algiers.
