King Abdullah paid a surprise visit to underprivileged families in the Burj area in Jerash Governorate, 48km north of the capital, on the first day of Eid Al Fitr on Sunday. The King checked on the needs of families in the area and issued directives for the establishment of homes for several residents in need of houses. The Monarch visited resident Hassan Bani Mustafa’s house and was acquainted with the family’s difficult economic situation. Bani Mustafa, who works as an assistant bus driver with a monthly salary of JD155, supports a family of 18 members living in a rented house. The King instructed the concerned authorities to establish a house for the family, according to a Royal Court statement. While checking on the residence of Samira, the wife of Irbahim Otoum, the King learned of the hardships the woman is facing as her husband suffers from chronic diseases and her only child needs urgent eye surgery. The King issued directives to establish a house for the family, in addition to providing treatment for the husband and performing the child’s needed eye surgery at King Hussein Medical City. Earlier on Sunday, His Majesty performed Eid prayers at Al Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The King, alongside worshipers, listened to a sermon on the blessings of Ramadan and the importance of Eid Al Fitr as times for giving, doing good deeds and keeping close ties with family members. After the tour of Burj, King Abdullah left the country for a private visit, while HRH Prince Feisal was sworn in as Regent. During Ramadan, the King paid a surprise visit to Al Faisaliah village in Shobak District, Maan Governorate, where he was acquainted with residents’ needs and living conditions. The King instructed the concerned officials to cover the village’s needs, particularly improving its education and health services, and to address the transportation problem in the area, according to a Royal Court statement.
