The Registrar of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Herman von Hebel, will be answering questions from Lebanese citizens and the general public on Wednesday 7 December from 3 pm to 5 pm Beirut Time (2 to 4 pm Central European time). Questions directed to the Registrar should contain the hashtag #STLRegistrar. The Registrar is in effect the Chief Executive of the tribunal and is responsible for all aspects of its administration including the budget, fundraising, relations with states and court management. His responsibilities also include oversight of the victim participation unit, witness protection and detention facilities. Von Gerbel will only be able to answer questions which relate to his responsibilities as Registrar. The exercise was presented as an initiative to interact with the people of Lebanon and marks the official launch of the STL Twitter account , which has been operative from 1 November 2011.
