HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari inaugurated Sunday the Arab Forum for the Blind. The forum, which adopts the topic "Through our discernment, we give life to our society", is being organized by Qatar Social and Cultural Centre for Blind (QSCCB). In his opening address, HE the Minister of Culture stressed that organizing the forum reflects the attention paid by Qatar's wise leadership to the blind community and young people in general as one of the high priorities of Qatar National Vision 2030. He said that Islam was one of the first religions to clearly point at the value and importance of the blind to their community, adding that the Arab history is filled with illuminate examples of people who lost their eye-sight but went on to have an incredible contributions to their community. The Minister also mentioned philosopher and poet Abo el Alaa Al Ma'ari and the Dean of Arabic Literature Taha Hussein as two examples of the role blind people can play in the society.(
