Royal Jordanian Airlines’ (RJ) board of directors on Monday appointed former minister of industry and trade Amer Hadidi as president and CEO of the company effective today. Hadidi, who holds a BSc in mechanical engineering from the University of Bridgeport in the US, has occupied several official posts, most recently as an adviser at the Royal Hashemite Court and head of economic and social affairs at His Majesty King Abdullah’s office, according to an RJ statement. He served as trade minister between 2007 and 2011, prior to which he served for two years as secretary general of the transport ministry and as a member of the RJ board of directors in 2006 and 2007. In 2005, he was appointed executive director of the Public Sector Reform Administration. Between 2001and 2005, Hadidi held the position of Director of Industrial Development at the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Last month, the RJ board mandated Abdel Rahman Al Khatib to act as interim CEO, after former president and CEO Hussein Dabbas resigned at the end of May.
