Naturalist Emarra says the region has ‘immense value’
A naturalist team from Algeria’s Tissemsilt province has discovered three new species of migratory birds in Algeria’s western regions.
The team unveiled the birds: the white-faced duck, the ferruginous
duck and the crowned diver.
Omar Weld Emarra, a leading natural scientist and conservationist in Algeria, revealed local authorities had monitored huge numbers of the birds, indicting the region’s immense value in terms of biodiversity and ecological balance.
Marking World Wetlands Day, Emarra claimed the area represents one of the most important wetland areas in the world.
