Tawakkol Karman is a Yemeni journalist, politician and human rights activist
Yemeni activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Tawakkol Karman was barred from entering Egypt on Sunday, sources at Cairo International Airport told Arab Today.
Sources
said Karman’s name was on a list of people banned from ?entering the country by security authorities.?
Karman was held at Cairo airport on arrival and ordered to return on the flight back to Yemen.
The first Arab woman to win the Nobel peace prize has voiced support for loyalists of deposed Islamist president Mohammed Morsi and described his ouster by the military in July as undemocratic.
Morsi supporters said in a statement that Karman had been due to make an appearance at a Cairo sit-in where backers of the deposed president have rallied for more than a month.
The source added that Karman arrived with a friend, Boshra Hassan al-Thurabi, who was not told she was on the list, but returned with Karman on the same flight.?
